This page contains basic information about myprojectpages.com and how to use this resource to create successful, inquiry-based Web learning environments.

Who are we?

myprojectpages.com is produced by Internet Innovations, Incorporated (iii), a technology staff development company. iii was founded in 1997 by three high school biology teachers who sought to provide quality adult learning experiences related to instructional technology. iii also produces Biopoint.com, a Web site devoted to improving how educators use technology.

How does this work?

It's actually pretty simple. Sign up and get an account. It's free. Create as many projects as you would like. Your personal information is held confidential (see our Privacy Policy below) and we'll only send you an occasional email when we make improvements to myprojectpages.com.

myprojectpages.com is a design environment for creating inquiry-based Web learning activities called Project Pages. We developed the Project Page in response to a need for an effective online learning experience for students. Once you have an account, simply use our Wizard interface to create your Project Page. You don't have to know HTML programming and you don't need a place to host the Web activity you create. We do that for you.

Why did we do this?

We do technology staff development across the United States and Europe. Our signature workshop is entitled: "Using the Internet to Promote Inquiry-based Learning." During that workshop, we teacher educators how to build Project Pages using Web-editing software. Once created, we host their activities at our staff development Web site, Biopoint.com in our online gallery. After the workshop, teachers typically forget how to use Web-editing software if they do not use it frequently. Also, teachers typically do not have the ability to post Web documents to their school Web servers, or if they do, it can be a tedious process. So, to eliminate these two problems, we created myprojectpages.com. Fortunately, you don't have to attend our workshop to use the resource-it's available to any educator.

What skills are required?

An interesting question. Basically, the most important skill you need are the skills you already possess as a teacher. You have to be able to design a lesson, something teachers do all the time. Realize that myprojectpages.com is about teaching and learning, and really NOT about technology. The lesson plan design process that an experienced teacher already possesses is the fundamental skill required.

From a technology standpoint, if you can turn the computer on, type and use a mouse, you're all set. From a Web technology standpoint, it is important that you can search the World Wide Web effectively. To get the necessary background you need for searching, visit our search resources at Biopoint. Additionally, use our Biopoint search grid.
